- DESCRIPTION
-
- Micromatt Football Fury, the football strategy
- game for Windows. Pick your plays from over a
- dozen available to get your team into the endzone
- as soon as possible. Play by yourself, with a
- friend, or just watch "from the sidelines" and let
- the computer do all the work controlling both
- teams. You can get up-to-the-minute statistics on
- your game, go for a two point conversion, risk an
- onside kick, pick any team from the Æ97 pro
- football roster etc.
-
- Football Fury does not work in the Large Fonts mode of
- Windows. If you are unable to see the entire quote on
- the main window please see the FAQ section of the help
- file for information on how to fix this.
-
-
- HOW TO PLAY
-
- The first thing you need to do is open the
- application using the Start Menu in Windows 95,
- or by using the Program Manager in Windows 3.1. A
- new game will automatically be started when the
- program is opened; or use the New Game item in
- the Game menu to start a new game if you have
- already opened the application. When a new game is
- started, you will be prompted first to choose a
- mode of play. Your choices are:
-
- Player vs. Computer
- Player vs. Player
- Computer vs. Computer
-
- With either of the modes involving the computer,
- the player has no control over the actions of the
- game when the computerÆs team has possession of
- the ball.
-
- The next step is to select the teams for the
- game. Click on the name of the team you want for
- team one, then click on the OK button. After a
- slight pause, you will be able to select team two
- from the list. Clicking on OK the second time
- will notify you of the winner of the coin toss.
- When you close the coin toss message box, the
- play clock will begin and the game will be
- underway.
-
- If a team not controlled by the computer is set
- to kick, then you must use the Kick menu to
- select either a normal kickoff, or to attempt an
- onside kick. Once your team has the ball you may
- use the Pass, Run, and Kick menus to select the
- plays you wish to run. On a touchdown play ran by
- a player, rather than the computer, you will be
- asked whether you want to go for a two point
- conversion, or the extra point.
-
- Once you are playing a game, you can get the
- statistics of the current game by choosing Stats
- from the Game menu. Also on the Game menu is an
- item labeled CPU Speed. This affects the speed at
- which the computer picks its plays when it is
- controlling a team. If it becomes hard to follow
- the game when the computer has the ball you
- should select a lower speed from this menu.
- Slower computers should use a slower speed for
- most predictable results. Another feature
- available on the Game menu is Smart Stop. When
- this menu item has a check by it, the game you are
- playing will be paused when the Football Fury
- window is deactivated. Your game will stop the
- clocks and will not continue running until you
- return to it; in other words, it won't continue
- playing in the background. For example, if you
- opened the help file from the Help menu, your game
- would pause until you returned to it, thus
- preventing accidental delay of games. Clear the
- check next to Smart Stop if you want your game to
- continue while you do other work. This is
- particularly useful when the game mode is set to
- Computer vs. Computer and you'd like to be able to
- do other things and just check in on the score of
- the game.
